Open-face Oreo cookies are shifted to resemble a yin yang sign, meticulously cut crackers are used to show world time clocks, finger prints are recreated with cheese puffs, crust on a cherry pie — and mustard on a ham sandwich. Says Van Aelst, “The images aim to examine the distance between the ‘big picture’ and the ‘little things’ in life — the banalities of our daily lives, and the sublime notions of identity and existence.” (via)

6月5日の「世界環境デー」に88カ国で同時公開された、映画「ＨＯＭＥ 空から見た地球」の94分に及ぶ全編が現在、Youtubeにて無料で公開中。
プロデューサーはリュック・ベッソンで、監督は航空写真家のヤン・アルテュス＝ベルトラン。
公開する期間は6月14日までと限定されているし、日本語音声や字幕はないけれど、航空映像を主体に作られた映像だから言葉が分からなくても十分楽しむ事ができるのだ。
まだ見ぬ地域の自然や動物も、地域によって大きく異なる人間たちの営みも、高度に発達した文明の姿も、全てまるっと詰め込んだ映像。
東京は1時間9分あたりにちょろっと登場するよ。

Oooh, here’s the eco-friendly equivalent of ziplock bags - Fresh Snack Packs! My image of ziplocks have changed since I took a trip to Africa when I was younger. We landed in some remote village, and the number one request we were getting was for ziplock bags. I realized that this village was taking the ziplocks and reusing them till they fell apart. Everytime I throw away a ziplock bag, I feel a little guilty. (via)
